[Israel.pm] XML::Twig and the mysterious #default prefix

Hello,

My usage of XML::Twig was great until one day, well, today,
I started using the map_xmlns switch.
This should have made my life easier, but instead it added a
mystery:

Sometimes, unprefixed names get a #default prefix.

Does anyone know why and what for this #default used?
How can I predict when it will be added and when it will not
be added?
